In a suburban Mumbai recording studio, you want to go hammer and tongs at the carpenters. Quite literally, considering that they're hammering away to glory intermittently, even as you're firing away a barrage of queries at Siddharth and Sangeet, tunesmiths of Murder 2 who are all gung ho at the reception accorded to the flick and it's music which had struck a winning note, sprucing up the chances of the Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer helmed by Mohit Suri.
The scions of ace violinist and music arranger Amar Haldipur believe that apart from the training given by their illustrious father, it is “God and destiny” that have taken them forward in life. All sanguine over the tuneful success of their scores in Murder 2 that have already bagged acclaim and acceptance from the masses, the duo of Siddharth and Sangeet is pleased as punch, as they've also pencilled in the opportunity to craft the score for the next flick under the Vishesh Films banner.
Excerpts from a chat interrupted by loud bangs, hammer sounds, doors being slammed and unexpected interruptions…
Firstly, how did 'Murder 2' crystallise into an offer for Sangeet and you…
Siddharth: We had a couple of songs in our kitty. Murder 2 was a chance of luck… after meeting Mukeshji (Bhatt) at an event, he called us to meet him in his office. Actually, Mukeshji's first love is music and that is why he is in the business of making movies. The Vishesh Films banner has churned out trademark movies which have stayed in our minds. Jacqueline is sizzling in the film, we have a winner like Emraan and I'm quite sure that Murder 2 is going to be a bit hit at the box office and is going to change the perceptions of cinegoers. It is going to offer good music, visual treats and great acting with great dialogues.
Your track aa zara has proven to be quite popular…
The song aa zara was created on the spur of the moment. It just came out of us and the movie got another lift because of the song. However, I'd say that all the songs have a hit factor…
Sangeet, you've sung a number for Murder 2 which has been picturised on you?
Yeah… actually tujhko bhulaana was made when Jannat was being made and Mukesh ji was quite impressed with it and told us to meet him. For Murder 2, Mohit wanted an actual singer on the stage and he was telling his assistants to search for one when Siddharth suggested my name. He told him that I was on stage for most of the time and so, it struck Mohit that it would be a great idea to get me in front of the camera. He told me to report to Goa in two weeks time! I had a brilliant time recording for the song and performing on it for the camera. I'd say that I am the 'item boy' of Murder 2.
What would you say is the USP of the music of Murder 2?
Siddharth: The USP of the songs in the movie is that they have an element of rock to it. We were told to make songs that were aggressive and sensual. The songs are not there just for the sake of it. Every song has a story behind it and is connected to the plot…
What is the kind of brief you got from the makers, as regards the music of Murder 2?
Sangeet : The only brief we got was about the situation for the song and we were given the freedom to work on the music. There was great sync between us and the film makers. The song tujhko bhulaana was like watching a baby grow as it was with us since three years and also because I starred in it…
Have you introduced any new singer with this film?
Sangeet : We have used a new singer Roshni Baptist for the film's music.
Siddharth : Even Sunidhi Chauhan can be considered a new singer with our music, as she felt that she had never sounded like the way she does usually does. The projection of her style is very new…
