Randeep Hooda is back to where it all started

Randeep Hooda and Motley productions, Naseeruddin Shah's theatre troupe, go back a long way. Randeep had been a part of Motley – right from being a floor assistant to an actor on stage, he has done it all for and with Motley. And now the star, after having proved his acting intellectualism and prowess in cinemascope, is back with Motley. He claims to have forced his way in to The Caine Mutiny – The Court Martial. He made Naseer write out a special part of the sutradhaar to include him in this Motley production. The last Motley presentation in which Randeep was one of the lead protagonists was 'Safed Jhooth. Kaali Shalwar'; the last of the trilogies of the Ismat Manto series. Randeep delivered a powerhouse of a performance. He then took a sabbatical from theatre to pursue his film career. And now, after having carved a niche for himself on the big screen, he now feels drawn to get back to his roots. He talks about how his guru Naseer had desisted his plans of joining in the lines of cinema strugglers and had tried to convince him that theatre was actually a better and more emotionally viable medium as a creative outlet. Randeep knew that the struggle in films was heart wrenching, but he still chose to follow the footsteps of his mentor Naseeruddin Shah. We are glad that he did and we are also glad that he hasn't forgotten the theatre. Looking forward to more theatre and more magic from Randeep.
