
Ali Peter John of 'Movie Talkies' was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award instituted by Dadasaheb Phalke Academy for his contribution to film journalism. The award was presented to him by Randhir Kapoor at a special function at the Bhaidas Hall on May 4.
Ali (A. P. J) worked with 'Screen' for 36 years during which he contributed hundreds of articles and covered various major events and occasions. He wrote a personal weekly column, "Ali's Notes" for a record number of 31 years without a break. He has been writing for 'Movie Talkies' after taking voluntary retirement from 'Screen'. He also has three books to his credit, "Voices in Turmoil", "Life Bits and Pieces", his autobiography and "Ali(ve) Only For You".
