The stage was the principal source of British actress Rosemary Harris' fame. Trained at the RADA, Harris has been a leading theatrical personality on both sides of the Atlantic since her Broadway bow in 1952's The Climate of Eden and her London debut one year later in The Seven Year Itch. In 1967, she won Broadway's Tony award for her portrayal of Elinor of Aquitaine in the original production of The Lion in Winter. In films since 1954's Beau Brummel, Harris has continued to make sporadic appearances before the cameras, most recently in 1993's Tom and Viv. Millions of television viewers will forever remember Rosemary Harris for her Emmy-winning work in Masterpiece Theatre's "The Notorious Woman" (1976), and especially for her performance as Berta Weiss in the blockbuster miniseries Holocaust (1978).
