The scion of Bollywood stars, Raj Babbar and the late Smita Patil, Prateik was raised by his maternal grandparents after the sudden demise of his mother when he was just 18 days old. A versatile artist, Prateik trained as a professional cricketer after his schooling. He soon gravitated towards film and began his career working in television commercials.
Before long, Prateik was cast in Aamir Khan Productions' ‘Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na’. The role garnered him huge popularity among Indian audiences especially the youth. He made his second screen outing in Kiran Rao’s ‘Dhobi Ghat’ in which he essayed the role of a washer man.
Rohan Sippy’s ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ is his third film and future projects include Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions’ ‘My Friend Pinto’ and Prakash Jha’s ‘Aarakshan’.
Prateik's special training includes Yoga, ‘Kalaripayattu’ and South American dance.
