Satish Beri Shah, for that’s his full name, was born on January 15, 1960 in Jabalpur. A comedian par excellence, the actor first shot into prominence with the hit teleserial Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi. Besides him, the serial starred the late Shafi Inamdar, Swaroop Sampat and Rakesh Bedi. While the other three actors did a fantastic job, it was Shah who was the highlight of the show as he played a different character in every episode. Even today, Shah continues to enthral all with his brand of comedy. Unlike most other comedians, Shah has managed to keep an air of exclusivity about him. He has chosen his roles with care and tried to concentrate more on quality than quantity. Even where the television medium is concerned, he has been very selective about his work and appearances. Some of his prominent television shows have been Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Ghar Jamai, All The Best, Philips Top 10 and Filmi Chakkar. Currently, he is one of the judges on the comedy show, Comedy Circus along with Archana Puran Singh. Among the many films that he has starred, the prominent few are, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Mr India, Saath Saath, Kabhie Haa Kabhie Naa, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Akele Hum Akele Tum, Kaho Na Pyar Hai, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Saathiya, Kal Ho Na Ho and Main Hoon Na and Bhootnath. As an actor, Shah has seldom reduced himself to buffoonery. It is to his credit that he has managed to retain his dignity as an actor and comedian par excellance.
