Daughter to actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, a fashion designer by training, started her career as a model when she walked the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week 2008 and 2009. The Sinha senorita got her big break when she was signed on to play the female lead opposite Salman Khan in action drama Dabangg, which went on to become one of the major blockbusters of year 2010.
 
The actress had to lose over 30 kgs over a period of two years and prepare for her character of a village girl by 'a combination of proper diet and vigorous exercise'. Sonakshi won many awards for her role as Rajjo in Dabangg and the actress has managed to land a range of impressive projects following the hit flick.
 
Sonakshi was recently seen in Rowdy Rathore. Sonakshi was next seen in Shirish Kunder's Joker which did not do too well at the box-office. However, her Diwali release, Son Of Sardaar, opposite Ajay Devgn, turned out to be a big blockbuster. She was next seen in another blockbuster, Arbaaz Khan's Dabangg 2 opposite Salman Khan. Her future projects include the 'Thupakki' remake, Vikramaditya Motwane's Lootera opposite Ranveer Singh, and the sequel to Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. In 2013, the actress also did a special dance number for Sajid Khan's Himmatwala.

She is currently shooting for Tigmanshu Dhulia's Bullet Raja opposite Saif Ali Khan.
