Dibakar Banerjee PROFILE

Dibakar Banerjee made his directorial debut with the Anupam Kher-Boman Irani film, Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006). The film went on to become a huge success and was much appreciated for its portrayal of Delhi-based characters.

His next, Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!, starring Abhay Deol and Paresh Rawal, was appreciated across all quarters. However, commercially it did not do as well as it was expected to, owing to its release during the 26/11 weekend. .

In 2010, he directed India's first film shot entirely on digital camera, Love Sex aur Dhokha (LSD),which won him critical acclaim.

In 2012, he directed Shanghai, a critically acclaimed political thriller involving an assassination, starring Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi and Kalki Koechlin.

In 2013, his film, Bombay Talkies released. This four-part film was made to celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema. Besides Dibakar, the other three directors working on the film were Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar and Karan Johar. Dibakar's segment starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
