Vinod Mehra PROFILE
Vinod Mehra was one hero who had no ego problems and could play parallel roles with other established actors. This is the reason he was a delight to work with and many actors preferred him as their co-star. Even the directors liked this hassle free actor.
His debut film was 'Ek Thi Rita' (1971) with Tanuja. But the film bombed and did nothing much for him. It was only 'Anuraag' (1972) with Maushmi Chatterjee which established him as an actor. Thus, he was set and continued doing many parallel hero films. Some of his films are 'Shaandar', 'Parde Ke Peeche', 'Elaan', 'Vardan', 'Anurodh', 'Sabse Bada Rupaiya', 'Saajan Bina Suhagan' and 'Ghar'. Most of his leading ladies were Nutan, Rekha and Bindiya Goswami.
There were films with other actors and that include 'Lal Patthar' with Raj Kumar, 'Jurmana' and 'Bemisaal' with Amitabh Bachchan, 'Arjun Pandit' with Sanjeev Kumar and 'Amar Prem' and 'Amar Deep' with Rajesh Khanna.
He also did a number of character roles as in Salman Khan starring 'Patthar Ke Phool'. He turned a director and started 'Gurudev' with Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in the lead. But he died even before the film could be completed and his wife had to complete the film for him.
