Kay Kay Menon PROFILE

Kay Kay Menon is one of the very talented actors around in the Hindi film industry today. Armed with an MBA from Pune, the young actor actually began his professional career in the advertising industry before moving to theatre, television and then, finally, films. He made his film debut with Shyam Benegal’s Naseem (1995) and then followed it up with a sterling performance in the much acclaimed Bhopal Express (1999). There was also a film on the underworld called Chhal (2002), where he delivered a gut-wrenching performance as cop who infiltrates the underworld only to become the best friend of the underworld kingpin played by actor Prashant Narayan. Despite being acknowledged as an excellent actor, it was Sudhir Mishra’s Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2003), where he was cast opposite newcomers Chitrangada Singh and Shiney Ahuja that actually catapulted him into fame. There then followed films like Sarkar (2005), where he played Amitabh Bachchan’s son and his performance was noted in this movie well. Whosoever managed to see Anurag Kashyap’s Paanch, which is yet to see the light of day, has only praise for the actor’s performance. His performance in Kashyap’s Black Friday, where he plays the DCP, Police, was also raved at. The year 2006, also saw him in Madhur Bhandrarkar’s Corporate—excellent again as always. He followed it up the following year with his portrayal of Shilpa Shetty’s philandering husband in Life In A….Metro, followed by Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd. In the last year, there have been films like Shaurya and Drona, Via Darjeeling, Maan Gaye Mughal-e-Azam and Mumbai Meri Jaan. Some of the prominent TV serials that he has done include Pradhan Mantri. His future films include Stoneman, which is still under production. The most endearing quality about this actor is his integrity and his ability to get under the skin of his character. His intensity and the air of quiet flamboyance that he infuses into his roles, makes him an extremely attractive actor to watch on screen. If given the right opportunities, Kay Kay is an actor who will dazzle the world with his talent for many years to come.
